I am inspired by Chris over at uncountable thoughts writing about their experiments with RSS to publish some notes as RSS-only. Seems like a good solution for posting links I find interesting or just half-baked thoughts I’m not ready to write about more thoughtfully. I always got a little hung up about the IndieWeb idea of posting notes to my site and syndicating them to social media. It always felt like I was cluttering up my archives. Only making the notes available in RSS solves two problems:
- The archives remain uncluttered by posts that are probably only interesting around the time that they’re published
- I’ve got a place to share links and thoughts unselfconsciously
I love the idea that RSS is a unique interface to my website, and not merely duplicating the contents of the website. Of course, Chris isn’t the only person I’ve seen contemplating an idea like this. Dave Rupert suggested publishing RSS-only articles in 2018. It always seemed like a cool idea, so here we go.
